Linguistics Hosts BUGLE III

Students presented their work on various topics in linguistics to faculty and peers.

The third annual Brown UnderGraduate Linguistics Event (BUGLE III) was held Nov. 2, 2024.  It featured 8 student talks (9 speakers) ranging from sociolinguistics to computational linguistics to semantics, pragmatics and even the grammar of crosswords!  Rounding it out was they keynote address by Chiara Repetti-Ludlow entitled  "Experimental Methods in Phonetics".  Chiara graduated from Brown in 2018 with ABs in Linguistics and in Classics, and recently completed a Ph.D. at NYU; she is now a post-doctoral fellow at Carnegei Mellon.  The event featured was lots of discussion after each talk and great interaction at the leisurely (and food--filled!) breaks.  As is always the case at BUGLE, the energy was intense as students got to hear the work of each other and of one of our alums.
