Linguistics (co-)sponsored two talks last week with speakers with Hollywood connections: David and Jessie Peterson, who created conlangs for Game of Thrones and many other shows, and Jessica Coon, who consulted on the movie Arrival.

Secondary Linguistics Faculty Member Masako Fidler has been acknowledged for her work in Czech studies.

Faculty member Scott AnderBois and co-authors Nathaniel Scott '24 and Shen Aguinda (Comunidad Cofán Dureno) spoke at the 4th International Linguistics Colloquium in Bolivia in La Paz. AnderBois also spoke to undergrads at Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba in a separate event.

Linguistics professor Scott AnderBois traveled to Ecuador to continue work with A'i colleagues on A'ingae dictionary, making use of the new field station built with ICCA, an indigenous-led NGO.

Peter Grishin has joined the Program in Linguistics as a Visiting Assistant Professor.
